Abstract
195,647. Girard, A. A. April 1, 1922, [Convention date]. Pressure-relieving devices for fluids.-Damage in a pipe system due to freezing is prevented by providing a rubber sleeve inside the pipe which on freezing is deformed and forced further into the non-frozen part of the pipe. A valve of ordinary construction is provided with a rubber tube C, D, extending into the supply pipe P. The upper end is enlarged and is held in position by a screwed member K which presses a metal ring F against a shoulder formed in the ribs H. Passages L, G are formed for the passage of the liquid, and freezing in these passages forces the rubber tube to extend further into the supply pipe P.
