Abstract
195,246. Marsh, R. T., and Fletcher, R. D. L. March 2, 1922. Boat disengaging and securing gear.- A lifeboat of the kind having an enclosing water-tight deck is provided with means, operable from within the boat, for simultaneously releasing the lashing engaging means, and means operable from outside the boat for simultaneously releasing the davit engaging means in order to facilitate the release of the boat from its ship in case of accident. By the operation of a handlever 27, pivoted below the deck 2 at 28, levers 22, 30 are partially rotated through a system of levers. Rods 18, Fig. 3, keyed to these levers are thus rotated, carrying with them the ears 20, 21 which slide over the ends 17 of the lashing engaging hooks 15, 16, which are freely pivoted at 13, 14 to the. webs of the lashing engag. ing means 5, 6 carried upon the deck at the ends. By this means, the lashings are simultaneously released at both ends from within the boat to permit it to float off the ship. Similarly, by means of a lever 49, pivoted above the deck of the boat at 28, the levers 41, Fig. 6, are partially rotated, causing the ears 42 to disengage the ends of the davitengaging hooks 38, and is simultaneously release both davit-engaging means 34, 35.
