Bush and like extractors.-A bush &c. extractor of the kind in which a pin or similar member is projected laterally so as to engage the rear end of, or a hole in the bush &c. to be removed, comprises a screwed rod passing through a box-like body containing, in threaded engagement with the rod, a thrust block having an inclined face coacting with the inner end of the pin &c. member which is slidably disposed in the wall of the body, the screwed rod carrying a revoluble thrust plate on the end adjacent to the larger end of the inclined face of the thrust block. In one form, Fig. 1. the box-like body f is freely movable on the screwed rod a and carries the slidable pin o having converging ends p, q and pressed outwardly by a spring r surrounding a jaw s. Screwed upon the rod a is a thrust block k having an inclined face m coacting with the pin s and the end p of the pin o. The rod a carries a rotatable thrust plate e, retained by a stop d, and is provided with a hole c to facilitate the application of axial traction to the rod. In operation, the screw is turned to carry the body f into contact with the stop d and the tool is inserted into the bush &c. until the pin o shaps into the hole in the bush, or behind its rear end. Upon turning the screw in the opposite direction, the thrust block is actuated to lock the pin in its projected position and the bush is removed by pulling the rod a, or if the thrust plate e can bear upon a suitable part, the bush may be extracted by continuing the rotation of the rod. In a second form, Fig. 2, the body part f<1> is secured to a sleeve i<1> screwed on the bush h<1> provided with a conical thrust part m<1> and threaded on the tubular rod a' which is provided with the revoluble thrust ring e<1> and with a traction hole c<1>. The bush-engaging pin or projection o<1>, having inclined faces p<1>, q<1>, is formed on a semicylindrical collar w<1> and is projected outwardly by a spring r<1> acting against a washer s<1>. Expansion of the spring on the side of the tool opposite to the projection o' is prevented by a pin x<1>. A ring nut v<1> threaded upon the sleeve i<1> and adapted to engage the end of the bush &c. when the tool is inserted therein, is provided to facilitate the location of the pin o<1> in the hole in the bush.
