Abstract

211,356. Harvey, C. S. March 14, 1923. Cotter extractors.-A device for extracting split pins &c. comprises a hook element 3 with a threaded shank 4 screwed into a threaded recess 5 in the end of a threaded rod 2 actuated along an abutment tube or body 1 by a nut 6, the hook element being formed with a guiding rib 7 engaging a longitudinal slot 8 in the tube 1. In the modification shown in Fig. 4 the rod is guided by a pin 9 engaging a slot 8<a>, and the forward end of the tube is serrated to provide a frictional contact with the object from which the cotter is to be extracted. In a further modification shown in Fig. 5, the shank 4a of the hook element 3<a> is swivelly mounted in the forward end of the extractor rod 2a, which is provided with a handle 6<a> and screws through a threaded portion of the tubular body.
