Rasping-apparatus.-A machine for grinding bone and the like, particularly for use as poultry food, comprises a rotating cutter-head having at the centre of its face a cutter which bores a hole into the bone and on its face cutter-bars for grinding any bone presented to the head not ground by the cutter, with means consisting of a longitudinal slide for pressing the bone against the cutter-head. The cutter-head 4, Fig. 1, mounted on a shaft turned by a handle 3, has a central cutter 8 with two inclined cutting-edges 9 and cutters 6, Fig. 5, fitted in grooves in the disc 5, the cutting-edges 11 of the cutters 6 projecting from the faces of the plates 10 screwed on to the face of the cutter head. The bones are fed to the head 4 by means of a member 13 which is moved along a curved trough 19, Fig. 4, by a screw 14 turned by a hand-wheel 24. The member 13 consists of a back-plate and flange member 17 which is serrated at its forward edge and has a cut away portion 18 at one side through which a bone may pass. Flanges 20 on the member 13 slide on flat surfaces 21 on the sides of the trough 19, which may be formed of two pieces of metal bent at the centre into an L- shaped projection 22 which passes through a slot in the back-plate. The trough 19 is secured to' the frame 1 and supported at its front end by a member 23. Any bone tending to pass between the head 4 and the trough 9 is ground by the ends 11<a> of the cutters 6.
