Abstract

194,180. Davis, J. W. April 13, 1922. Moulding-machines. - A machine for moulding curved pipes has a two-part framework with a pivotal connection. The flask 10 is carried by the part 3 angularly adjustable at 4 on a pedestal as determined by a support 7. Jacks 6 adjustably position the flask. The rotary packing mechanism is carried by the other frame part pivoted to the part 3 at 15, a series of bolt holes being provided to enable the curvature to be varied. A rope 16 arranged as shown controls the tilting of the packing mechanism as regulated by a drum 18. A motor-driven spindle 22 carries radially adjustable packing rollers 35, 42 and scrapers 43. A conical core member 36 loose on the spindle 22 is prevented from rotating by the friction of the mould. When a straight length is required tangential to a curved position, the tilting movement is stopped and the spindle is fed axially by means of a quill 21 and the gearing shown, a clutch being incorporated in the gear 49.
