Abstract

217,627. Moir, D., and Buchanan, H. Feb. 23, 1923. Centrifugal machines.-In a macline for moulding pipes, columns &c. centrifugally in which the material is fed through a trough into a rotating mould, as described in Specification 12928/15, the trough is directly supported at both ends during its introduction into the mould by temporarily coupling together a head on one end of the trough and a head on a sliding shaft. The mould 37 is removably supported in a rotary casing 33 mounted on a bed 36. The trough 10 provided with a scraper 11 is in its filling position supported on a roller 12 mounted on an adjustable cross-bar 13 and brackets 15 movable on guide shafts 16. The trough is projected into and withdrawn from the mould by rotation of a hand-wheel 29 through chain-and-sprocket gearing 30, and is emptied by rotation of a hand lever on the shaft 18. The latter is mounted on eccentric bearings so as to allow alteration of the position of the trough within the mould. The end of the trough is supported during its forward movement by projecting a shaft 42 also mounted on eccentric bearings so that the head 41 thereon couples up with a head 40 on the trough. The shaft carriage 45 may be swung to one side to allow removal of the mould.
