Abstract

1,035,939. Cigarette making machines. K. KÍRBER. June 12, 1963 [June 12, 1962; July 23, 1962], Nos. 22533/62 and 28214/62. Heading A2C. A rolling drum 1 for rolling a cigarette mouthpiece group by means of a counter surface 35 and with heating means 26 associated with the drum, is characterized in that the heater is stationary and placed at a small distance from the rotating inner cup-shaped wall of the drum. The drum 1 has fins 2 between which the mouthpiece groups are rolled, connector sheets being held between the fins by suction applied to orifices 25 via a duct 20, recess 21 in a stationary ring 16 and ducts 22, 23 and 24. The ring shaped peripheral part 3 of the drum, the radial wall 4 and a bearing sleeve 5 define recesses 6 and 7 which are open towards the ends of the drum. The sleeve 5 is rotatable on a stationary shaft 9 and is driven by dogs 12 of a clutch 13 which engage in recesses of grooves 11 formed in a flange 10 secured to the sleeve 5. The clutch is driven by a shaft 14 which passes through a wall part 15 of a gearbox. The heater 26 is rotatedin the recess 6 and is mounted in brackets 28 secured to the wall 15. The groups are rolled between the fins 2 and the counter surface 35 into recesses 38, 39 where the seam 37 of the connector sheet is positioned so as to be heated by the heated surface of the drum 1.
