Oil switches; quick-break.-In high-potential switch-fuses, particularly of the ironclad oil-immersed type for use outside consumers premises, the detachable fuses which bridge fixed contacts in the box are mounted on insulators on the lid and when the lid is opened the fuses may be removed and replaced 'by earthed contact blocks, so that when the lid is again closed a selected contact is earthed. As shown applied to a threephase cable which enters through a leading-in chamber B and is connected to three clip contacts C, the fuses E which are mounted on insulators F on the lid extend between the contacts C and similar contacts D which are connected to the outgoing phases passing out through three sealing chambers B<1>. The earthing connection K can be plugged at one end into the earthed lid and its other end is provided with a contact piece K<2> which may take the place of a. fuse-end on any one of the insulators. Alternatively, the lid may carry a spring arm which, when the lid is closed, engages one of the. clip contacts normally occupied by a fuse. To open the lid the catch H, H<3> is pulled down against the action of a spring J<1>. An extension of the catch engages beneath the cover and produces the initial movement which is continued bv the overbalancing weight A<3> or by an equivalent spring.
