[Class 38 (v)] Contacts.-An arc-control device in or for a circuit-breaker has the housed contact or its associated arcing-member mounted in such a manner as to be readily removable through an opening provided in a side wall of the enclosure of the device and closed by a door which is rigidly secured to said enclosure by means, for example, of set screws. The invention is particularly applicable to circuitbreakers as disclosed in Specification 395,088. The upper metal part 1 has an opening 7 covered by a door 8 which is secured to the part 1 by studs and carries a pivot 12 for the fixed contact 11. A stop 16 limits the movement of the latter under the action of a spring 14, and shunts 15 connect it electrically to the door 8 and thence to the stem 6. Stacked insulating members 2 are provided with passages 3 for the cross-jets of arc-extinguishing fluid. In Fig. 2, the door 8 carries, or is formed integrally with, an arm 22 and arcing ring 21 which is closely adjacent a fixed socket contact in the form of segments 17 pressed radially inwards by springs 19 located between the segments and a ring 20.
