Abstract
192,975. Maybury, T. W., and Perry, T. S. May 12, 1922. Lateral-splash guards.-A lateral-splash guard e for motor-vehicles &c., suspended from the wheel hub by a bracket d and spring-carrying rods g, is formed upon its lower edge with a flange fitted with a strip or layer of fibre &c. f, the rods g being arranged to extend upwardly from the flange. Lock-nuts i provide for vertical adjustment of the guard, and the slots in the arms of the bracket d may be lengthened to allow it to swing laterally. The guard may comprise two parts pivoted on a bolt m, a pin-and-slot connection n, and slots in the arms d allowing relative oscillation of the parts under control of a spring l on a rod k acting on nuts j pivotally connecting the rod k with the rods g. In a modification, the guard is divided into three parts, each outer part being under the control of a separate spring arrangement.
