Abstract

162,102. Jewell, A. A. Jan. 31, 1920. Wheel-guards.-In a wheel-guard for motor and like vehicles of the kind which is coaxially and rotatably mounted on the wheel, the guard 12 is carried by a member 6 which is rotatably mounted on a bearing attached to the inside of the wheel. In the construction shown, the member 6 is of annular form and engages a groove in a ring fcrmed of two flanged members 1, 2 connected together by bolts 4 and preferably having a ball-bearing race 3, the ring being bolted to the wheel. At its upper end the carrying-member 6 has a lug 7 pivotally connected to a bracket 9 on the dead axle 10, and at its lower end a second lug to which the guard 12 is attached either directly or through an intermediate member 13.
