Abstract
192,932. Hewer, A., and Sharples, A. A. Feb. 20, 1922. Dynamos, driving.- A dynamo a, Fig. 2, is driven by a weight q through a train of gearing and ropes e, the weight being supported in the loop of a rope p wound on two drums o. The weight may be raised by a handle, means being provided to disengage the drums from the toothed gearing, or it may be raised by mechanical means. In the method shown, a plunger t moving in a cylinder s is connected through gearing u to a rope v, the free end of which is attached to the weight q. The plunger is actuated by the ex. pansion of gas introduced in liquid form from the cylinder w and heated in any suitable manner. On completion of the working stroke cooling water may be circulated through the pipes x to reduce the pressure.
