Abstract

244,061. Quinan, H,. W., Laughter, C. P., and Roberts, W. C. Dec. 5, 1924, [Convention date]. Rope-actuated pumps; counterbalances; stroke, varying.-The rod of a well pump is connected by a cable 6 with the periphery of a wheel 3 which carries a counterweight 10 and is driven by means of a cable 15 from a source of power not shown. The cable 15 is attached to the wheel by a stud 16 and a grooved arm 12, several such arms being provided for altering the stroke. Fig. 5 shows a chain substituted for the cable 6. The weight; 10 may be carried on the wheel itself.
