Reciprocating sieves. - A shaking - trough, jigger, or the like a, operated from a crank and fly-wheel driven by an electric motor h, is started by running the motor alternately in opposite directions until the arrangement has acquired a sufficient swing or stroke to carry the crank over the dead-centre position, after which the motor is run continuously in one direction. By this method of starting, the motor employed need be no larger than is required for the normal working of the trough.
