Motor power plant.-In a steam power installation comprising a reciprocating steam engine driving the working shaft directly, an exhaust steam turbine for forward running only which drives the same shaft through gearing, and a hydraulic coupling inserted between the turbine and the gearing, the coupling remains filled when the reciprocating engine is reversed and the turbine runs idly. Cooled liquid is fed to the coupling at the centre from a high level tank or a filling pump and heated liquid escapes through openings on the outer circumference. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 255,815.
