Abstract
192,390. Gouvion, F. Jan. 24, 1922, [Convention date]. Fixed-chamber apparatus for liquids; with several chambers; controlling passage of air for.-In apparatus of the type having two measuring chambers one of which fills while the other empties, each chamber is fitted with an overflow pipe leading to a valve vessel so that air expelled from the chamber which is filling is led to the other chamber to assist the discharge, overflow from either chamber is led back to the supply, and if necessary air may be drawn in. With a four-way cock D in one position the chamber A is filled by a pump C, the air passing through a pipe F, vessel E and pipe F<1> to the chamber B which is delivering through a pipe H. Overflow from the chamber A discharges into the vessel E and raises a float a to open a valve and return the liquid to the supply through a pipe G. When the chamber is seen to be full through a transparent portion I the cock D is turned to reverse the action, pumping being continued, or if it is not desired to fill the other chamber, pumping is stopped and air will then be admitted through a non-return valve d in the vessel E, allowing the chamber to discharge.
