192,121. Cunningham, D. June 24, 1922. Balls.-A football bladder has an inwardly projecting neck, holding therein a tube into which a non-return valve is screwed. The valve body 1, Fig. 1, of the kind used in pneumatic tyres, screws into a tube 2 vulcanized to the internal tube 3 of the bladder, and has a head 1<a> seating in an air-tight manner on the tube 2 or on a washer 5. To deflate the bladder the valve body is screwed slightly off the seating. In a modification, Fig. 3, the valve body screws into a nut 6 secured in a perforated tube 7 and the head of the valve body makes an air-tight connection with'a washer 5. The hole in the bladder may be reinforced by a rubber rim to which a loop or loops of tape may be vulcanized for convenience when inserting the bladder in the cover. The lacing of the casing may be run through the loops to keep the bladder in position.
