Abstract

18,060. Nicoresti, C. A. Cofman-, and Nicoresti, G. Cofman-. Dec. 28. Essential oils and turpentine.-Volatile oils are solidified for medicinal or toilet use by the addition of 20 per cent or less of a salt of a higher fatty acid. Small quantities of wax (r hard paraffin may also be added. The preparations are cast into sticks or other shapes. The oils specified are oil of amber, oil of camphor, oil of pine, oil of eucalyptus, oil of turpentine, and terebenes. The salts mentioned are sodium stearate or palmitate, and mixtures such as ordinary animal soap. The salts may be added as such, or the acid and the base may be added to separate portions of the oil, which are then mixed, in some oases by means of an emulsifier.
