Abstract

A dermatological composition comprises 5 to 15 per cent(by weight) of a polysiloxane having from 2 to 3 hydrocarbon radicals, e.g. methyl, ethyl, propyl, octadecyl, lauryl, and phenyl radicals, per silicon atom, 5 to 15 per cent of a non-toxic emulsifying agent and 70 to 90 per cent of water. The preferred emulsifying agents are the glycol or glycerol esters of long-chain fatty acids, e.g. glyceryl monostearate which is used in the examples to form aqueous emulsions of dimethylsiloxane. The compositions may contain skin medicaments and/or pigments. Specifications 596,833, 689,679 and 695,070 are referred to.ALSO:A dermatological composition comprises 5 to 15 per cent (by weight) of a polysiloxane having from 2 to 3 hydrocarbon radicals, e.g. methyl, ethyl, propyl, octadecyl, lauryl and phenyl radicals, per silicon atom, 5 to 15 per cent of a non toxic emulsifying agent and 70 to 90 per cent of water. The preferred emulsifying agents are the glycol or glycerol esters of long chain fatty acids, e.g. glyceryl monostearate which is used in the examples to form aqueous emulsions of dimethylpolysiloxane.
