Bleaching flour; treating flour with air and gases.-In supplying nitric peroxide or other active gas or activated air to a flour-bleaching apparatus, the gas is passed through an admission orifice comprised by a small hole in a very thin portion of an interchangeable disk or plate. In the form shown, gas passes from a supply pipe h through a valve g to a flexible or other pipe f connecting the supply pipe with the bleaching-apparatus a. A trap-pipe i leads the gas to a small chamber d', the bottom of which is formed by the detachable orifice disk or plate c. The plate c may be very thin, or is, as shown, thick with the part immediately surrounding the orifice c<2> thinned off by countersinking. Plates provided with orifices of varying sizes may be used.
