Emission of hot gases, preventing.-A device for preventing escape of gas through the poking-hole of a gas-producer by delivering a jet of steam or other gas into the hole is made portable, so that it can be applied at any one of the poking-holes. The annular delivery nozzle b is connected to the steam &c. supply by a flexible pipe e, and the device is centred over the poking-hole by an annular rib g, which engages a corresponding groove in the producer top. An ejector n may be fitted for drawing off through the pipe l any gases which may escape from the producer. A carrying-handle o is provided.
