Abstract
16,981. Alcock, W. J., and Davis, G. K. Dec. 2. Sulphuric acid; sulphurous acid.-Sulphuric acid is made by a combination of the catalytic and chamber processes in which the pyrites is burnt in air-tight kilns supplied with air dried by means of Glover-tower acid, which, after use, is led to the Gay Lussac tower. The dry sulphurous acid is treated in a ferric oxide contact chamber, and the sulphur trioxide is absorbed in sulphuric acid in a Glover-tower. The unabsorbed sulphurous acid is led to the lead chambers.
