Rotors.-In high-speed drum turbines, the blade series having the greatest circumferential velocity are fixed on disks built in as drum bottoms between the drum and the shaft ends, and between adjacent drums. Fig. 6 shows an ahead and an astern turbine having shaft-ends d and drums a, a<r> with intervening blade disks b, c, b<r> for the high and low pressure stages c, g of the ahead turbine, and for the highpressure stage e<r> of the astern turbine. The shaft-ends may be formed integral with their adjacent disks, as in the example shown in Fig. 5, where, in addition, a second disk c is employed for the low-pressure blades g. Where two adjacent disks c are employed in this manner, they may both be formed separate from the shaft-end d, as shown in Fig. 3.
