Abstract
13,320. Belliss & Morcom, and Jude, A. June 13. Steam &c. turbines.- Buckets for steam or gas turbines of the Peltonwheel type are formed of wedge - shaped pieces a, Figs. 2 and 4, separated by thin plates b. Junk rings e secure the pieces on the wheel. The pieces a are shaped so as to form two buckets a<1>, a<3>, the latter being intended to act as an auxiliary. The bucket a<1> is made of the form described in Specification No. 9417, A.D. 1904. The stator is constructed similarly with wedge-shaped pieces and separating-plates to form reversing buckets. An alternative method of constructing the buckets of both rotor and stator is shown in Fig. 11, which shows a portion of the rotor. In this method, trapezoidal grooves h<8> are slotted or milled out of a solid rim, and pieces i are inserted in the grooves to form the buckets. In multiple-effect turbines, the guide-channels of the stator are formed of broad copper tubes. Fig. 16 shows the guidechannels for a turbine of treble effect. The elongated mouth p<1> collects the fluid discharged from the first ring of buckets, and leads it around the bend p<2> to the second ring, to which the fluid is guided by partitions p<3> placed in the discharge orifice. A similar arrangement connects the second and third rings. The guide-channels may also consist of spaces left between suitably-shaped pieces screwed to the stator.
