Abstract

11,221. Riley, R. J. Aug. 3. Sliding valves. - A gate or sliding valve for pulpy materials comprises a casing 6 which is closed at the top by a bonnet 8 having a curved interior conforming to the curved shape of the gate or valve, and having also openings on opposite sides of the spindle 11 closed by swinging doors 20 for cleaning purposes. The bottom is closed by a removable plug 16 having an inner projecting part which is curved to conform to the curved shape of the gate or valve for which it forms a lower stop. The valve is operated by a lever 13, which is clamped to the spindle 11 by a nut 14 and pivoted to a standard 15 pivotally secured to the valve casing 6.
