8645. Krupp Akt.-Ges., F. June 29, 1914, [Convention date]. Cylindrical-journal, ball, and roller bearings.- To facilitate elevating adjustments, the main trunnions C of a gun are mounted with play in their bearings D', D<2> and are normally supported by secondary elastic trunnions E which are mounted upon ball or other bearings f<1>, F, f<3>, and yield to permit the main bearings to take the stress of recoil. The inner ring f<1> of the hearing is secured upon the secondary trunnion E by a flanged screwed stud e<1>. Into the stud e<1> is screwed a bush e<2>, by means of which a socket is formed for a swivel pin M. A cover-plate K is secured to the pin M and is screwed into a ring G which carries the outer ring f<3> of the bearing. The outer ring f<3> is formed with a rounded surface which, together with the swivelling action of the pin m in its socket, enables the members of the bearing f<1>, F, f<3> to rock laterally when the elastic part e<3> of the trunnion E yields. The ring G rests upon a cradle H secured to the body of the main trunnion support.
