Abstract
7217. Cloud, J. W. May 13. Couplings, automatic; draw-gear.-To prevent strains on the automatic coupling - heads described in Specification 10,709/14 due to rocking of the vehicles, each coupling-head is so mounted as to allow a spring-controlled movement both laterally and rotatively about the axis of traction. The rea of each coupling-head is r a member 11 connected b the vehicle frame, longitudinal movement between the shank 2 and prevented by a rear flange 13 and a front washer 17 retained by a nut. The lateral and rotational movements of the shank 2 are controlled by an upper sliding abutment 5 and a lower sliding abutment 6 at each side of the shank, each pressed outwardly by a spring 9, Fig. 3.
