7012. White, A. E., [Lock Joint Pipe Co.]. May 10. Spigot-and-socket joints held by cement and the like.-A joint for concrete or like pipe sections, comprising a spigot C and a socket B shaped so as form an annular groove G on the interior of the pipe, is sealed by means of a primary filling D of rough cement, mortar, or concrete and a secondary covering of very finely sifted cementitious material E applied after the primary filling has set. In order that the face of the secondary filling may be flush with the bore of the pipe sections A, the ends of the pipe sections are preferably shouldered so as to form a second groove F to receive the secondary filling E. In the case of concrete pipe sections, the sections may be provided, in known manner, with metallic reinforcements H, the ends of which may project into and overlap in the groove G.
