Abstract

21,146. Hirsh, A. M. Sept. 25. Spigot-and-socket joints held by cement.-A joint for sectional concrete pipes is made by forming the upper portion of the spigot 1 shorter than the socket 2 so as to leave an open space in the upper portion. The bottom groove and the upper space are filled with concrete which constitutes a monolithic key. The pipe sections 1, 2 may be provided with reinforcing- fabric 7. A temporary closure is employed to close the bottom of the upper part of the keyspace, and is removed after the concrete has set. The edge of the cut-away portion of the socket is provided with a shallow groove 5.
