Abstract
6973. Brown, T. A. May 10. Projectile fuses.-Relates to firing devices for grenades of the kind in which a projecting spike when broken on impact causes the release of a firing member, and consists mainly in operatively connecting the spike to the firing member to hold the latter back, the spike being shouldened and made brittle for example of cast iron. In the form shown in Fig. 1, as applied to a mine, the spike E has a brittle neck E<3> and a shoulder E<2> which rests on the edge of the lug D screwed into a chamber B fitted in the wall of the casing A of the mine; and a spring striker C is connected to the spike by a screw bolt C<2>. When such a firing device is used on grenades a safety pin is inserted through the spike.
