Abstract
2476. Justice, P. M., [Bethlehem Steel On.]. Feb. 16. Projectile fuse.-Relates to percussion fuses, and consists in the combination of (1) a hammer 13, (2) a firing-pin 20, (3) centrifugal safety bolts 23, (4) a spring 25 for moving the firing- pin forwards out of the hammer 13 when released by the centrifugal bolts 23, so that on impact the advance of the hammer brings the firing-pin in contact with a percussion cap 16, and (5) a centrifugal disk 29 released by the forward movement of the firing and serving to lock the firing-pin in the forward or armed position, by forming behind it an unyielding abutment. A creep spring 26 is also provided in front of the hammer.
