Abstract

Sights.-Relates to backsights in which a wedge is used for elevating the sight, and consists mainly in providing limits and intermediate holding points for the wedge, so that its position can be determined by the clicks. In a modification, the position of the wedge is indicated by a scale. In the construction shown in Fig. 2, the leaf a<1> carrying the sight a<2> is elevated by a sliding wedge B, which is operated by a pinion B' engaging a rack on the wedge. The bottom of the wedge is formed with a series of depressions adapted to engage a fixed pin e' on the sight bed. In a modification, the clicking- device is on the spindle of the pinion. The top edge of the wedge may be shaped as shown in Fig. 6, so that, starting from a very short range, the sight is first depressed and then raised as the range is lengthened.
