Abstract

845. Wallace, J. Jan. 11. Sights.-Consists in forming the slide 4 of a leaf back-sight with three sighting-apertures 1, 2, 3, at different elevations, and in mounting the slide so that it can be raised above the top of the leaf, thus enabling a comparatively short leaf to be used for a long-distance sight. Fig. 1 shows a back view of the sight with the slide in the lowest position, and Fig. 2 shows a front view with the slide raised. The leaf has the usual scale on the back for use with the lower and intermediate apertures and a supplementary scale at the side for use with the top aperture. The slide is elevated by rack-andpinion gearing.
