Abstract

112,799. Manley, J. C. M., and Skerman, O. Jan. 19, 1917. Sights.-Consists in elevating and depressing the sight slide by a loose pinion engaging a rack on the stem or leaf, the teeth of the pinion acting as a thumb grip. In the construction shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the slide A is elevated on the stem C by means of a loose pinion B engaging a rack on the stern. One side F of the slide is split and set inwards so that it grips the side of the stem, and a clamping-nut D is provided. The graduations on the stem are read through a deep notch H, forming an open window in the slide. For coarse adjustments, the nut D is used as a handle and the slide moved rapidly along the stem; for fine adjustments, the pinion B is rotated by the thumb.
