Abstract

1581. Martin, W. E. Feb. 1. Portable-track wheels.-Relates to means for driving or propelling ploughs, cultivators, &c. of the kind comprising two endless chains or bands each of which passes round two wheels and engages with the land. According to the invention, the two chains are driven from one cross-shaft but are adjustable separately, so that one may run in a furrow and the other on unploughed land. Fig. 1 shows the driving-mechanism applied to a one-way plough. The driving-mechanism is of the kind described in Specification 1250/14, but with chains provided with soil-engaging plates like those used on wheels.
