Abstract

111,719. Dijk, H. N. van. Dec. 8, 1916. Ploughs.-A motor-plough for use in sugar-cane planting is provided with a pair of endless chain tracks 5 and a surface-gripping wheel 4. The frame 1 is divided longitudinally into two parts, the one part carrying the engine 2 and transmission gearing 3, while in the other part, the tracks 5 and wheel 4 are mounted. A chain 6 connects the tracks and the wheel to the transmission gear 3. The steering-wheels 9, which are provided with flanges, are arranged at the land side of the frame. A set of tilling implements is arranged at each end of the frame, the sets being used alternately. Each set comprises a stubble plough 11, continuously revolving cutting-tools 12, and the main plough 10 which is provided with a subsoil-loosener 13 and ridging-members 14. Adjustable pressing-down members 15 are mounted on the plough 10, for the purpose of smoothing-down the soil thrown up by the ridging-members 14.
