Wrappers.-The small e nds of corrugated or other paper bottleenvelopes are tied by u machine which fixes around them a U- shaped staple of stiff wire j, Fig. 4, bent to overlap at the ends as shown in Fig. 6. The cylindrical envelope r is placed on a mandrel (t and forced up into a conical former g by depressing the treadle d. The staple j is placed in the semicircular end of a slide i, which is caused to move, by depressing the lever l, so as to force the limbs of the staple along the diesurfaces k<1>, k<2>, in a block h. The bars p fixed to the slide i carry a roller o which is engaged by the vertically moving cam-surface n<a>.
