Integral treads.-Relates to horseshoes of the kind provided on the outer edge with a rib or projection having a flat surface, and on the inner edge with upstanding undulations, denticulations, &c., to prevent slipping or skidding. According to the invention, the rib or projection on the outer edge is provided with nailholes, or the nail-holes are provided between a pair of ribs or projections on the outer edge. The metal between the projecting edges is removed as far as possible to reduce weight. Optional additions are cross-ribs between the projecting edges, holes for roughing-calks, and an inner reinforcing-web. The reinforcing-web may be perforated to reduce weight, and may rest partly or entirely on the sole of the foot, or may rest on the ground and may be denticulated, milled, grooved, &c. Fig. 1 shows a shoe having nail-holes 2 in the outer projecting edge 1, cross-ribs 6 between the projecting edges 1, 3, calk-holes 7, and a reinforeing-web 8. Fig. 23 shows a shoe having nail-holes 2, 2<1> between pairs of ribs 1, 1<1> on the outer edge, projections 3 on the inner edge, calk-holes 7, and a reinforcing-web 8 perforated at 9, 10.
