Abstract

Renewable calks and treads; hoof-supporting packing. - A horseshoe comprises a metallic body having a cavity with a filling 2 of cushioning material which extends beyond the lower surface of the shoe body and which has on its surface beadings 12 forming a number of suction cups 13. The filling 2 is enclosed between a comparatively wide outer rim 3 having radial sockets 14 with which the filling forms interlocking keys 15 and a thin inner rim 4 which may have only half the depth. The filling also extends through holes 9 in the upper surface of the shoe and forms a covering 10 thereon. Calk sockets 6, 7 are provided in the shoe body. Fig. 15 shows a form in which the filling interlocks with the nail seatings 22 and also has a portion 43 extending across the heel. In this modification the metal body is entirely enclosed. The shoe may be used with a heel pad 17, Fig. 12, having a web extending over the shoe on the upper surface thereof. The heel-piece may be intgral with the filling. In this modification the shoe preferably tapers upwardly towards the heel.
