Abstract

9866. Dicker, S. G. S., [Kibele, E., and Vreeland, W. G.]. April 21. Chain and like wrenches.-Relates to pipe and like wrenches of the kind in which the grip is effected by a pair of bow-shaped members pivoted together at one end and at their other ends connected to a handle by fixed and sliding pivotal connexions respectively, and consists in constructing and arranging the parts so that the wrench may operate in either direction without removal from the pipe. The gripping-members c, d are pivoted together at f, and the member c is pivoted at e between cheeks b fixed to or integral with the handle a and provided with stops l. o to limit its oscillation. The member d is slidably pivoted to the cheeks b by a pin h, which may be passed through either of two slots or a single extended slot in the cheeks, and engage either of two holes g, j in the member d according to the direction in which the wrench is to operate. The slots or single slot may be made in the member d and the holes in the cheeks. The pin h may be attached to the wrench by a chain. The member d is provided with teeth p to facilitate grip.
