Abstract

30,030. Chipchase, J. Dec. 31. Chain wrenches.-Relates to wrenches in which a block chain is connected to a handle by a pair of pivoted links and after being passed around the pipe &c. to be turned is passed through the links and adjustably secured to the handle which is provided with a nose to bear on the chain, and consists in connecting the free end of the chain to the handle by engaging extended link pins or rivets of the chain with hooked brackets on the handle. The chain 6 is connected to links 5 pivoted to the handle A and, after passing round the pipe &c. 8, is passed between the links 5 and secured to the handle by extensions of the link pins 7 engaging hooks 4 on a bracket 2 fixed by bolts 3 to, or formed integral with, the handle. In action, a nose 10 on the handle presses the chain against the pipe.
