Abstract

21,073. Chipchase, J., and Metcalfe, A. E. Sept. 10. Chain wrenches.-Relates to chain pipe wrenches of the kind in which the chain is carried by a pair of !inks pivoted on the end of a handle, and, after being passed completely round the pipe, is passed between the links and secured at its free end in adjustable position along the shank. The shank A is provided on its rear side with serrations or ratchet teeth 2, and has, slidable thereon, a yoke 8 carrying a pawl 9 or a pin adapted to engage the shank teeth or serrations and a hook 7 adapted to engage the end link of the chain. In the operation of the wrench, the nose 10 on the end of the handle bears upon the chain and clamps it tightly against the pipe.
