Abstract

6473. Newsholme, N. R. March 14. Doffing-arrangements; thread-guides.-The slack in the yarn which is produced during the doffing operation is formed into a loop between the upper ends of the spindles and the nip of the rollers. In the arrangement shown, a longitudinally sliding rod A carries a hinged thread-guide board A<1> similar to the ordinary guide-board J and capable of rising and falling with it. The guide-board is moved longitudinally by a spring-weighted cord S and is normally retained in position with its guides coincident with those of the guide-board J by means of a spring or weighted catch B<1> which is liberated by the arm C<1> of the lever C when this lever is operated for the purpose of putting into gear the mechanism for unscrewing the flyers, as described in Specification 7952/11. The lever C may be connected directly with the sliding rod A.
