Abstract

110,222. Mylchreest, T. G. Nov. 3, 1916. Doffing-arrangements.-In a flyer spinning &c. frame, a hand-wheel 34, Fig. 2, is mounted on the shaft 14 carrying the grooved wheel to operate the lifter rail 8. The shaft 14 also carries an additional grooved pulley 19 over which runs a weighted chain 18, Fig. 4, carrying projections 18<a>, 18<b> adapted, when the hand-wheel is turned, to rock a lever 16. This lever is connected to a rail 15 carrying the empty bobbins 9<a>. The chain 18 is provided with slack sufficient to allow the rail 8 to be lowered so that, when the lever 16 is operated, the full bobbins are free from the spindles 2 and can be pushed off the rail 8 by the empty bobbins. The shaft 14 carries a cam 27, Fig. 3, which operates through a lever 25 a rail 24 carrying projections 24<a> adapted to contact with and aline the legs 4 of the flyers. The lever 16 by its movement also operates a rail carrying a series of pairs of fingers, which are adapted to wipe over the lower portions of the spindles and take away any thread coiled thereon. The threads are severed by a separately operated device comprising a grooved bar b, Fig. 8, with notches cut in the base of the groove, and a sliding notched cutting- bar a with the notches pointing to the base of the groove. The edges of the bar b are kept together by pieces 32. The drag cords and weights are moved away from the spindles prior to doffing by the arrangement described in Specification 109,689.
