2971. Schrempp, K. Feb. 5. Drawings to Specification. Liquids, purifying.-Temporary hardness is removed from water by heating and then suddenly reducing the pressure. Water heated below the boiling-point may be passed into a vessel in which there is a partial vacuum. Water heated above the boiling-point under pressure may be passed into an open vessel. Pressure may be exerted on the water by a pump, steam injector, or other mechanical means before, during, or after the heating.
