Abstract

Paper pulp, forming yarns and threads from; indicating-apparatus; yarns and threads.-Long fibre pulp is fed from a stuff box e between dividing-devices b on to a wire band c and is maintained in strips on the wire by deckles h. The pulp is carried over a vacuum box m, and between press rolls n and felt-covered rolls o to a twisting-machine p, and along a steam-jacketed drying - trough q to a reeling - machine r. To strengthen the resultant yarn, long fibre such as jute or hemp may be embedded in the pulp on the wire band c. Long fibres spread on an endless driven band s are consolidated by rollers t, split into strands of suitable width by the rotary knives v, and drawn but and delivered to the stream of pulp by rollers u, guides x, x', and rollers y, y<1>. Stationary or reciprocatory knives may be used instead of the knives v. To regulate the quantity of long fibre fed to the endless band s, the movements of the band are indicated by a dial z the pointer of which is driven by a chain or the like z<1>.
