Abstract
2157. Lertora, I., Neil, D., and Sanderson, F. I. Jan, 27. Air and steam pressure sprayers; nozzles with several outlets.-A nozzle comprising a set of truncated tapered diverging passages of circular cross-section, for burning liquid fuel such as tar which has been previously atomized by two currents of air or steam, is provided with a central tapered air-supply tube, and each atomizing-current is subdivided into a set of truncated tapered currents of circular section, each jet of one set meeting one jet of the other set and one of the tapered nozzle passages. In the construction shown, fuel is drawn past a valve 12 from a chamber 6 by a steam or air injector 11 and passes through the truncated tapered passages 13, each of which leads into a steam or air passage 4<1> supplied from the chamber 2. In the position shown, the nozzle passages 4 form continuations of the passages 4<1>, and regulation may be effected by rotating the airsupply tube 10 carrying the diaphragm 15 in which the passages 4<1>, 13 are formed. A compressed-air injecting-pipe 9 is provided. When steam is supplied through the chambers 2, 7 for atomizing, the liquid fuel passing through the chamber 6 is heated.
