Coke ovens; charging and discharging. - An horizontal oven is heated by means of flues 4 arranged in the roof only, as well as by hot gases introduced into the oven. The material is conveyed through the oven by a reciprocating floor 2 as described in Specification 7049/10. The central portion of the floor may be slightly elevated, so as to cause the charge to be packed tightly at this part.
