Printing - surfaces; impression surfaces and the like. - Impression cylinders of the kind in which the gaps for the blanket-fixing devices are discontinuous or " staggered," have the gaps arranged symmetricallv on each half of the impression cylinder, so as to avoid lateral drag on the paper web. In one form, the gaps a, b are in line and extend inwards from each end one-quarter the length of the cylinder, a gap c parallel with these gaps extending over the centre half. The type formes are correspondingly placed on the printing-cylinders.
